Journey to Excellence Award

Updated 3/25/11

Banner

Scouting’s Journey to Excellence” is the BSA’s new council performance recognition program designed to encourage and reward success and measure the performance of our units, districts, and councils. It is replacing the Centennial Quality Awards Program as a means of encouraging excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of the BSA.

Logo - Journey to Excellence Gold Award 2011Its purpose is to encourage and reward success in units, districts and councils; measure performance versus process; and achieve Scouting's mission of serving more youth with a higher quality program. The new program began for the Buffalo Trail Council in January and carries over to all units in the Council.

To achieve the award, units must score points in 12-13 different objectives (depending on the type of unit). Everything from Advancement, Retention, Training, Service Projects, Budgeting and more are included as objectives. Each objective has three levels available to achieve, bronze, silver, and gold. All points are then tallied to see which overall level a unit will be recognized with at year's end.

For more information, please review the score sheets, webinars, PowerPoint presentations and more listed below!
