Regular Meeting Schedule

District Commissioners Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month unless otherwise noted. We switch back and forth between Kermit (First Baptist Church) and Monahans (Habaneros Restaurant) for the meeting places. All meetings are at 6:30 PM.

Unit Leaders are invited to attend the Odessa Roundtable meetings for information on upcoming events and Scouting news. Here is the information for their meetings:

District Cub and Scout Roundtables meet on the first Tuesday of each month excluding June & July at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 5401 Jon Ben Shepperd Parkway at 7:00pm. Den and Troop Leaders this is a great training opportunity for you to get some ideas for your next month’s program. This is a great place to get new ideas for your meetings, network with other unit leaders and prepare for the upcoming month.

Note: Any changes due to holidays will be announced on this website, at roundtables, in the Buffalo Tracks and in any mailings to district committee members.

  • Adult Leader Appreciation BBQ – Friday, June 11th, 6:30 PM – George T. Abell Scout Service Center – Save the Date!  The top leader in all units in the Buffalo Trail Council are invited to the annual cook out and appreciation dinner prepared by your very own Scout Executive.  Be on the lookout for your invitation in the mail, bring your spouse, and receive a limited edition CSP, too!  Click here to download and print a save the date reminder flyer!

  • Cub Scout Day Camp 2010 - It's never too early to begin planning for summer fun! Join Cub Scouts from across the council at one of the four summer day camps available. Come to one, or come to them all, it's up to you! Big Bend District is June 12th, Comanche Trails is June 14th - 16th, Chaparral is June 21st - 23rd, and Lone Star is on June 19th.   • Rockhounds Family Picnic & Campout – Friday, July 23rd, Citibank Ballpark - Baseball season is upon us, which means it is almost time for the Scout night at the Rockhounds!  Bring your whole family to the game and for the all you can eat picnic!  Then, spread your sleeping bags out on the grass, watch a fun movie, then sleep out under the stars!  Also, there will be a special 100th Anniversary limited edition surprise for Scouts that come to the game!  Tickets are only $15 for ages 8+ and only $8 for those 3-7 years of age.  For more information, download this flyer.  Be there!

  • 2010 National Jamboree – The Buffalo Trail Council is sending two Troops of Scouts from all over the 18 county area to the 2010 National Scout Jamboree in Ft. AP Hill Virginia. This will be an exciting opportunity to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Scouting, tour the Nation's Capitol, and enjoy an experience that will never be forgotten. Congrats to all the units that participated in our popcorn sale this year. We have DOUBLED last year’s sale!

We are continuing to grow the Sand Hills District in not only youth but adult volunteers as well. The Sand Hills District would not be what it is today if it was not for the amazing effort of the adult volunteers that take the time out of their busy lives to serve our youth.
